Meet The Gregory Family

Rob and Heidi Gregory wanted a home that could accommodate their growing family and business, but worried they would never be able to afford one on the Central Coast. Happily, they discovered The Colony at Apple Valley.

The Gregory Family loves their new home and its location across the street from the neighborhood park. "It's green here, not concrete everywhere," Rob said.  "There are nice rolling hills, and the air quality is good." Especially important for raising their young children, Alison and Ethan.

Midland Pacific Homes made home-buying easy, say these first-time home-buyers. "We got a quality home at a good price," Rob said.

Meet Rod and Jeanette Jarmin

Rod and Jeanette Jarmin have entertained a lot of house guests since they moved into their Ventana home in March of 2006.  "Instead of downsizing, we upsized," Jeanette says.  "We have four bedrooms so we can accommodate our four kids and six-and-a-half grandkids. Everyone loves coming to stay with us in our beautiful new home."

The Jarmins love their friendly new neighborhood. "We've had a more active social life in the past six months than we had in nine years in our old neighborhood" - and they're crazy about the convenient Paso Robles location and expansive views.

"Our high compliments to Midland Pacific, not only for the top-notch construction," Rod says, "but for their staff.  We have enjoyed excellent customer service."

Meet the Neighbors:
Mable Hosford and Fern Headdy

Sisters Mable Hosford and Fern Headdy are close. So close, in fact, they live just three houses apart at The Colony at Apple Valley in Atascadero.

While the two women spend a lot of time together, often going back and forth between each others' homes, they differ when it comes to decorating.  Mable favors the color green, dark wood cabinets and a casual, open floor plan.  Fern likes burgundy and pink, light wood and more formal living spaces.

Both women do agree on one thing, though. They love their new homes in Apple Valley.

"It's so quiet here, and our homes are so comfortable - just perfect for our lifestyle," said Mable.

The two are also pleased with the energy efficiency of their homes.  "Our houses are so well-designed and well-insulated, we don't have to spend much on utilities," Fern said.

And they never tire of looking out at their oak forest, "country" views.  "What we like is, we're living in the city, but we're really not," Mable said. "It's a convenient and beautiful neighborhood."

Meet Alex and Maria Canizales

New homeowners Alex and Maria Canizales and their young family have left apartment living behind and are now loving life in their three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Mission Meadows. "It's our first home of our own and it's brand new," Alex says. "I love it because I don't have to repair anything."

His twin daughters - they turn three in June - and their younger brother have room to play inside and out.  "The backyard is nice and big," Alex says. "We love watching the kids playing out there."

The neighborhood is peaceful and friendly, he adds, and the San Miguel location has great views of the surrounding hills.

Alex works for a concrete construction company. Work and family keep him busy, but buying a home from Midland Pacific was "nice and easy," he says. "We got our loan through them and they explained everything. There was no going back and forth with a lender. Buying our first home was a great experience."

Meet the Gong Family

Last June, Sherry Gong and her family packed up their things from San Francisco and moved to The Colony at Apple Valley. Since then, Sherry and her family have been living a much slower paced and relaxed life.

"This is a completely different lifestyle," Sherry said.

Living in a smaller community allows Sherry's children, Derek, 6, and Darin, 3 1/2, to run around the neighborhood and have fun, something you can't do in a large city.

"They like to bike, scooter and play soccer in the front yard," Sherry said. "They do everything."

Sherry loves that her home is in a cul-de-sac so that her boys could run around with the other kids in the neighborhood and not worrying about a lot of traffic coming through. While the kids play with each other in the evenings, the parents sit in their front yards and spend time together talking, she said.

"Everyone here is so friendly," Sherry boasts.
